Exterior Painting & Staining

We power wash the exterior of your home with bleach or Simple Green in order to remove flaking paint, dirt, and mildew.

All loose paint is scraped off, wood areas are sanded, rotted wood is replaced if necessary, and gaps in trim are caulked. For clapboard houses, we seal the ends of each board into the trim to create a waterproof seal.

For most exterior projects we apply the siding paint with an airless sprayer. In order to protect your windows during the painting process we will tape and cover with plastic the windows, light fixtures, etc. We do our best to leave the plastic on the windows for as short a time as possible. We typically will start with two sides and do the first and second coat on those sides, take the plastic off the windows the day after that is complete, and then do the remaining two sides. This ensures you will not be in your home with all the windows covered. We then do all the trim after the siding is complete.

Prime anywhere that is necessary with the appropriate primer. We will use an airless sprayer for the siding. For the first coat the sprayer is just an applicator that saves us from having to dip a roller or brush and from having a bucket on the ladder. We back brush or back roll the first coat. This ensures a proper bond and that the stain gets in all the places it needs to be. The second coat is sprayed on and will leave a consistent coat throughout. The trim paint will be applied with brush and roller.

We do our best to maintain a clean and orderly job site. Rest assured that your home and landscaping will be considered throughout the painting process. At the end of the job, the perimeter of the home is cleaned. All paint chips, plastics, masking tape, papers, and debris are packed–up and hauled away.
